Selecting a Fisher Metal Detector

The Fisher company is known for their wide selection of quality metal detectors. Not only does Fisher manufacture detectors for industrial and security purposes, they manufacture a variety of detectors made especially for the hobbyist treasure hunter. Coinstrike -- The Coinstrike detector, as it's name suggests, is designed to unearth treasures such as coins and jewelry in various conditions such as mineral-rich soil, sand and even garbage. This detector is digital and part of Fisher's Target I.D. metal detector collection. If you're seeking a highly sensitive treasure hunting tool, this one is a good choice at around $900.
1236-X2 -- For around $400 or so you can own a Fisher 1236-X2 coin and relic detector. This detector is extra sensitive and quiet at the same time, making it perfect for the competitive treasure hunter. Another reason this detector is great for the competing hunter is because other nearby metal detectors do not interfere with the operation of this model. Search all kinds of conditions like soil, trash, and even wet sand.
Gold Bug 2 -- The Fisher Gold Bug 2 is the new and improved model that follows the original Fisher Gold Bug. As its name suggests, this detector is designed for finding gold nuggets. This rugged model offers iron discrimination, high sensitivity and moisture resistance. Depending on where you shop, you can find a Gold Bug 2 for around $700. It's a must for the serious precious metal seeker!
1280-X -- Also available for around $700 is the 1280-X model. The great thing about this detector is that it can be used not only on land, but underwater. The 1280-X is totally submersible up to 250 feet and lets you find amazing treasures that land detectors cannot. This model is sensitive and can even discriminate between treasure and small pieces of garbage. It's the perfect thing for the treasure seeker who loves the water!
1212-X -- For the newbie or budget treasure hunter, there's the 1212-X. This Fisher metal detector costs around $200 and doesn't have the bells and whistles of some of the others, but it's perfect for simple treasure seeking. One of the features this simple model does have is the Trash Rejection Control sensor, which can be activated or deactivated with the flick of a switch. If you're looking for an affordable introduction to Fisher detectors, this one might be for you.
